About Sundby Gård

A HISTORIC LANDMARK IN THE ARCHIPELAGO

Sundby Gård

Sundby Gård's Corps de logie was constructed in the late-Caroline architectural tradition during the first half of the 18th century, between 1721-1723. The estate is a cultural heritage site and classified as a national interest. The original main building was burned to the ground on August 19, 1719, during the Russian raids in the Stockholm archipelago.
One of Sundby's previous owners, Johan Rosir (1754-1789), and his wife Ulrika Bedoire, established an entail that passed through the female line as well. Sundby has been owned by the Stenbock family since 1871 and is currently managed by the sixth and seventh generations.
While the main building remains a private residence, tours for small groups can be arranged by appointment. The estate’s primary industries are residential leasing, forestry, and rental properties, along with small-scale tourism. A small herd of Aberdeen Angus cattle graze the natural pasturelands and shore meadows, contributing to the area's rich biodiversity.
Sundby is managed with a long-term perspective, preserving it for future generations and maintaining a vibrant archipelago.
